Adam Scripps Foundation Scholars

After growing up on his family farm in Balmorhea, TX, Adam moved to Fredericksburg when he was 22. He quickly came to love the community, and the people in it, and for years he supported a scholarship at the Fredericksburg Independent School District. Recognizing the value of different types of post-high school education, the scholarship initially supported select graduating seniors with any college attendance related purpose.

Building on that foundation, and balancing an individual student’s need and merit, The Adam Scripps Foundation Scholarship program now functions like a three-legged stool to continue to provide scholarship access through three key partnerships:

(1) Scripps Educational Award at Fredericksburg Independent School District in partnership with Scholarship America; To boost confidence in any post-secondary pursuit, up to 100 graduating FISD seniors are granted $2,000 each to continue their education in a trade, 2-year or 4-year program.

(2) Sponsored Scholars at Subiendo Academy at University of Texas at Austin. Subiendo means “climbing” or “going up," and refers to the next generation of rising leaders who will address the challenges of the state of Texas and the nation.  We are proud to sponsor 10 Texas students as they pursue a degree at University of Texas at Austin through this cohort-based scholarship program.

(3) Adam Scripps Foundation College Possible Scholars: College Possible's pioneering model matches eligible students with near-peer coaches and an intensive curriculum designed to help them navigate and overcome the most common barriers to getting into college and completing their degree — all at no cost to students or their families. We look forward to partnering to grow the College Possible cohort footprint in Texas and beyond by an additional 60 scholars attending 2 or 4 year institutions.
